Swim east toward Sunset Beach or west toward Waimea Bay. Swim parallel to the beach between 5 to 50 yards off-shore.

ALA MOANA
BEACH PARK
(South Shore)

The swimming area is completely protected from waves by the surrounding reef. There is a marked 1000 meter swimming course parallel to the beach. Great for first time swimmers. |
Box Jellyfish are common 7-10 days after a full-moon. A sharp, shallow reef is on the oceanside of the swim course. Watch for other swimmers sharing the same course.

WAIKIKI
BEACH
(South Shore)

Many great swimming locations in the Waikiki area. San Souci Beach near the Waikiki Aquarium is one of the most popular. Swim from shore to the bright orange windsock approximately 250 yards offshore. Other swim areas include Duke Kahanamoku Beach near the Hilton Hawaiian Hotel, Queens Beach and Kuhio Beach. |
Box Jellyfish are common 7-10 days after a full-moon. High surf during the summer months. Many sharp, shallow reefs are in Waikiki. Watch for other other swimmers, surfers, kayakers, canoers, and other water craft.

POKAI BAY
(West Shore)

Swim parallel to Pokai Bays white sand beach.

Box Jellyfish are common 7-10 days after a full-moon. High surf and strong currents may occur year round but are most common during winter months. Shallow reefs and rocks in some area of the bay. Watch for other other swimmers, surfers, kayakers, canoers, and other water craft. |
KAILUA
BEACH PARK
(East Shore)

Swim parallel to Kailua's beautiful long white sand beach, or swim out to Flat Island.

Portuguese Man-O-War are common on the windward shore year round. Shallow reefs and rocks in some areas. The water is often murky and choppy. Watch for Kayakers, Canoers, Windsurfers and Kiteboarders! |
