Open
the door and preach to the choir

The old man of the sea has been immersed in
music, mostly church music, from the day that he was born. His father,
James McDougall Craven was a composer, choir director and organist. When
he was 14 he was known as "Die kleine Mozart". Most of his work exists in
manuscript form and will someday appear on this page. David Craven was
similarly immersed in music from the day he was born, inherited a
beautiful voice and obtained a Bachelors Degree in music and voice. He is
now an active performer, involved in the Chicago
Opera scene We will much about that on this page. Sarah
and Dorothy are versed in music but it is not as much an integral part of
their gestalt. The old man has been involved in the past as singer,
director, and arranger. This corner will be employed to resurrect,
recreate and create the musical idiom that has now been kept alive through
three generations. Our first essay concerns the creation of
an arrangement by JPC of the wedding hymn "Oh Perfect
Love". The arrangement features a baritone solo designed
for David Craven. Their is some possibility that it will be
sung at the wedding of Mathew McGuire and Sarah
Craven in January of 1997
