FAITH
Faith
the foundation;
The foundation of my house;
diligence the wall.
Meditation makes huge bricks.
Wisdom hews the cornerstone;
a castle four square
lasting as eternal Truth.
But your house is false;
deluded, demon prisons.
I, desert, abandon them.
The Milarepa poem in the form of a Tanka chain (haiku connected
by seven syllable couplet). The opening haiku sets the theme to
which the variations are linked by the chain.
