THE THIRD DAY OF CHRISTMAS
NATURE GAVE TO ME
THREE
FAMILYTwo frontal lobes
and a body with life and
liberty

In order to preserve the species,
nature invented the family and allotted to each enough children to permit
a population growth that matched evolution. With modern health and safety
this figure is now 2.3 children per family. The institution of the family
also confers the preservation of culture, tradition and genetic
characteristic as a complement to the gifts of life, private thought,
frontal lobes, the remembrance of things past and the anticipation of the
future. These days members of the family are scattered far and wide. As
depicted here, today son David is far away in Chicago, my wife Dorothy is
here as the hostess of the family Christmas. Sarah is visiting from
Washington D.C. and her presence, as depicted here, is closest since she
will soon depart. As you can see these are three very different people
with very different lives and societies. What binds them together? It is
the common heritage of tribe and family and the programmed need to
transmit this culture and this being to posterity. As the psalmist has
been paraphrasedThe fruit of the
womb
children are the heritage
who shall speak for us -
arrows
of eternity.
Happy we, whose quiver is full
