DAY FIVE We
later discovered that if an annual is exposed to severe drought
after it has bloomed it will droop its head and prepare to die, but
if any life remains the restablishment of the cold water at the
roots will cause the flower to rebloom with flowers distributed all
along the stalk. We do not yet know the increase in yield that such
a phenomenon will produce but it certain to be beneficial to
humanity. There are implications beyond productivity in this new
found plant behavior. These are being explored in the Garden Book
