little babe just one day old depicted here by Leonardo da Vinci emerges
from the womb with a DNA molecule having 3 billion bases and an
information content equivalent to a 500 volume encyclopedia of knowledge.
The babe emerges with a full repertoire of environmental sensors -sight,
hearing, touch. smell, an internal neural net sensing pain and comfort and
a cerebral cortex communicating all of these external and internal sense
and sensibility to the brain. This babe may thus begin that process known
as private thought - that most precious common heritage of humanity.
