There was a time when world resources appeared unlimited to the eyes of humankind. New developments in technology brought us better living conditions which in turn stimulated increasing population growth. The explosive developments of chemical and industrial processes using fossil fuel resources not only had a stimulating effect on the population growth, but has also resulted in an exponentially increasing and unsustainable rate of demand on world resources.
