AN INTRODUCTION TO THE GARDEN

Before you can start your garden you must have access to cold deep ocean water. At present the permitting and environmental impact statement process is such that a deep ocean pipe is a public work. At this moment the only facility is at the Natural Energy Laboratory in Hawaii. Soon there may be a pipe in Haiti, or Yokuska, or Morocco, or Mauritius or Ponape. Your best bet is to lobby your legislature for this innovation. Once you have access to the water you need a plot of coastal desert land and the ability to import organic composted soil. You are now ready to install a network of black un-perforated irrigation pipe. Standard connections for this pipe are not leak proof so you must get the connectors that have pressure bands that bind. The manifolding system can be PVC. You will need a small supply of fresh water to prevent leaf burn and for washing and sanitary uses. If fresh water is not available simple condensate freshwater generators can be made with commercially available swimming pool heater heat exchangers or you can build your own "hurricane' tower.
