Savez vous planter des choux?

a la mode - a la mode
savez vous planter des choux
a la mode de chez nous.

Do we know how to plant cabbages the way the French do? You bet, but if we planted them that way nothing would grow on our Kona desert. But we have the 'savvy' to plant cabbages our way and we'll match these cabbages, a loaf of our zucchini bread and a bottle of California wine with the produce of any other paradise.

How do we do it? With a hot, hot atmosphere, hot from the year long exposure of the Kona coastal desert to the solar insolation from a cloudless tropical sky;
with cold, cold ground, cold from the deep ocean water which pulses through pipes embedded in the ground;
with wet, wet soil, wet from the condensate produced by the cold;
with a free, free desert, free of bugs free of weeds, freed by isolation from all but the most itinerant predators;
with
happy farmers filled with 'joie de vivre' who, having planted in the morning, now rest from their labors at the sound of the Angulus bell to enjoy these fruits of a self sufficient, organic, environmentally sustainable garden of Eden, bathed in the natural energy of a tropical coastal sea.
