Blue Corn - ColdAg 'Mood Indigo'

BLUE CORN

Here in our garden at Keahole, we are growing Aztec blue corn. Normally, it grows in the mountains of the southwestern part of the United States where it adapts to extremely dry and hot conditions. However, the cool ground provided by our deep ocean water makes it grow faster and stronger. We can also grow it throughout the entire year since ours is the garden of perpetual spring. Blue corn can grow in any coastal desert but you must employ deep ocean water; otherwise it would not root well in the wind eroded soil and would require extensive watering. As you may have already read, almost all of our crops are virtually waterless. Since the roots naturally seek the cold pipes, rooting is not a problem. Blue corn can be grounded into an excellent corn meal that flourishes in an otherwise "dead" environment and can be grown as a staple food to provide relief from hunger not only for the coastal desert but as an export for the entire world. Food for thought?
