PRECOCIOUS ASPARAGUS
>ONE YEAR FOR THREE
Conventional wisdom will tell you that it takes three years for asparagus to produce the kind of shoots depicted here. Conventional wisdom says that one does not eat aspargus raw. Conventional wisdom says that one does not grow asparagus on a costal desert. But there is nothing conventional about cold water agriculture. Our asparagus flowers and goes to seed three times a year without any tending. After the third cycle the gardener must trim the plant down to the ground and from the ground there springs forth tall straight sweet tender shoots. Our gardeners cut these shoots and they never leave the garden for one cannot help but eat. So, dear reader you will not experience this taste treat unless you initiate a program for the installation of a pipe a pump and a pond in the coastal desert nearest to you. Sites are close by in Haiti on the West Coast of South America, on the West Coast of Africa, on every 'low' tropical island, on the leeward side of a trade wind island and many many other places. You can see our other crops crops or return to the Common Heritage Universe page
