Our world is the water planet. Familiar pictures from space reinforce
this understanding. In them we see only blue ocean and oceanic
vapor. The vapor is in the form of swirling clouds which obscure
most of the brown and green masses of continent and island. We
know of no other planet in the universe that is so blessed with
water. Ours is also the natural energy planet. We are less conscious
of this remarkable resource for few of the world's body politic
have a realistic understanding of the nature of energy, natural
and man made, or the manner in which our world behaves as a natural
energy machine. Products and processes produced by this machine
are thus environmentally sustainable. A more complete understanding
